- Visit and telephone regularly to provide counseling and support to help alleviate loneliness, depression and other mental health problems.
- Cut through "red tape" to ensure the provision of needed services.
- Protect an older or disabled person's eligibility to receive health care and social services.
- Establish social service and health care plans for the future.
- Testify in due process or other court proceedings.
- Consult with care providers, either in the home or residential facility, to ensure continuity of care.
- Assist with insurance claims and other financial issues.
- Act as a liaison between long-distance caregivers, older adults, care providers and insurance companies.
